JUNIPER: VMX IS A VIRTUAL MX SERIES 3D UNIVERSAL EDGE ROUTER

Virtual carrier-grade routing for enterprise and service provider networks.

The vMX virtual router is a true MX Series router optimized to run as software on x86 servers. It equips service providers and enterprises to quickly and economically address their requirements with carrier-class routing and a DevOps-style service focus to the network.

The vMX is a virtual MX Series 3D Universal Edge Router that extends the full depth and breadth of Juniper’s edge routing expertise to the virtual realm. A full-featured, carrier-grade router, the vMX provides complete control, forwarding, and management planes. It runs on Junos OS and supports vTrio packet handling and forwarding by compiling the programmable Junos Trio chipset microcode for x86 chipsets.

Available directly from Juniper, Juniper partners, and on the Amazon Marketplace, the vMX supports sophisticated routing services, including vPE and vCPE. In service provider and enterprise applications, the vMX is ideally suited for rapid service scale-out, as well as agile service introduction and modification.

With its granular “pay as you grow” licensing model, the vMX reduces the risks associated with new market entry and service innovation, allowing you to start small, move fast, and stay profitable. Not only is it an ideal platform for markets and applications that are difficult to serve with traditional hardware routers, the vMX is also a great option for proof-of-concept validation, lab testing, and feature and release certification.
