Occupying 36 rack units, the PTX5000 can be configured with up to eight FPCs, each capable of connecting two PICs that support a variety of network media types. The PTX Series architecture cleanly separates control operations from packet-forwarding operations, eliminating processing and traffic bottlenecks while enabling the Converged Supercore router to deliver extreme performance for both IP and MPLS.

The PTX5000 offers integrated 100GbE coherent dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) interfaces with optical transport network (OTN) framing at industry-leading densities. These advanced capabilities lay the foundation for multilayer convergence in the Converged Supercore architecture. The PTX5000 also delivers a full IP feature set, along with high-capacity express MPLS switching and multilayer packet transport manageability.

An eight-slot router occupying 22 rack units, the PTX3000 supports up to eight FPCs, each providing one PIC. It delivers the best of IP and optical worlds, offering the flexibility of a full-featured IP network with the reliability, performance, and scale of optical transport in a single collapsed router.

Featuring 300 mm ETSI-compliant depth, 8 Tbps of forwarding capacity, and less than half a watt per Gbps power consumption, the PTX3000 achieves new limits of efficiency. Compared to similar products, the PTX3000 outperforms the competition by two to six times on efficiency metrics of power, cooling, and space. At the same time, it delivers very dense, fully integrated photonics and coherent dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) 100GbE transport.

Occupying only two rack units, the PTX1000 is the industry’s first fixed-configuration core router that enables service providers to organically distribute peering points throughout the network. It uses a rich IP/MPLS feature set without sacrificing performance or deployability, two factors on which total cost of ownership (TCO) pivots for service providers.

With 2.88 Tbps of forwarding capacity, the PTX1000 supports flexible interface configuration options ranging from 288 10GbE interfaces using a quad small form-factor pluggable plus (QSFP+) breakout module, 72 GbE interfaces at 40 Gbps using a QSFP+ breakout module, and 24 100GbE interfaces using QSFP28.

Like other routers in the PTX Series, the PTX1000 is powered by Juniper ExpressPlus custom silicon to deliver predictable IP/MPLS packet performance and functionality.

Each MX2020 supports up to 1,920 10GbE interfaces, 480 40GbE interfaces, or 320 100GbE interfaces, as well as legacy SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity and broadband subscriber management. Powered by Junos OS and the programmable Junos Trio chipset, the MX960 delivers high performance, reliability, and scale to enable a cost-effective digital transformation and ensure a positive customer experience under all network conditions. Key features include support for a wide range of L2/L3 VPN services and advanced broadband network gateway functions, along with integrated routing, switching and security services.

At eight rack units (8 U) and 5.76 Tbps of system capacity, the MX480 offers high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, 100GbE interfaces, as well as support for legacy SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity.

The MX480 flexibly addresses a wide variety of applications, including infrastructure PE, business and residential edge, mobile service core, cloud, cable, data-center edge and datacenter interconnect.

At just five rack units (5 U), the MX240 is a compact, modular platform offering 1.92 Tbps of system capacity. It concurrently supports high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces and legacy SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity. The MX240 also supports sophisticated timing capabilities, as well as Junos Fusion technology and Juniper’s Virtual Chassis technology, which help streamline network design and operation.

For cost-effective sparing and maintenance, the MX240 shares a common set of field-replaceable units (FRUs) with the MX960 and MX480, including routing, control, and switching components and line and services cards. Its resilient and fully redundant architecture provides a consistent operations and service environment.

The MX104 offers 80 Gbps of capacity, with four fixed 10GbE ports and four Modular Interface Card (MIC) slots for flexible network connectivity and virtualized network services. Optimized for central office deployment, the MX104 supports a redundant control plane for high availability, and its chassis is environmentally hardened for deployment in outside cabinets and remote terminals.
